Kingdom Hearts II.8 has been announced at the Tokyo Game Show after some leaks and rumours emerged last week about a prequel game to lead in to the events of Kingdom Hearts 3. The name of the game in question turns out to be slightly different, but it is set to be a prologue to the eagerly awaited KH3.
Kingdom Hearts II.8 will contain a HD remaster of the 3DS game, Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover, which will reveal some new information about the history of the series. Birth by Sleep 0.2 is the final part of the collection and takes place after the events of Birth by Sleep and is told from the perspective of Aqua, the main protagonist of Birth by Sleep and keyblade wielder.
The game follows on from the last Kingdom Hearts release, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX which released on the PS3 and included a full high-definition remasters of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, and cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.
The official trailer will be revealed in two days on 17th September. Until then, have a look at the first look trailer below.
