Hello everyone, there’s some interesting news in regards to the Jurassic World sequel that was undoubtedly on the way. If you’re anything like myself, you’ve been craving any news in regards to this film, or sets of films, as I’ve been a fan of the Jurassic series since the very first iteration.
In an interview with the director, J.A. Bayona, he describes that his vision for the sequel is that it will be “darker and scarier” than Jurassic World. Here’s a bit of the interview for you all
“It will be darker and scarier than the previous film. Obviously when you have Chris Pratt, it will also be very funny. But it will be darker. It is a second step in a trilogy, and the second step is always dark as in The Empire Strikes Back or the Wrath of Khan,’ which are the examples you always get. The film takes the story where it has never been before. To me, it surprised me. We are going to places where the saga has never been before, and at the same time we are paying tribute to the franchise. We will take it a step further. There are things that will happen that people are not expecting and they really are shocking.”
I personally love that this director is going to at least try to do something new with the series, especially with it being the 5th in the series. As well, it seems that he’s at least trying to follow some of the past formula’s of great movies, so with any luck he’ll be able to bring the same level of success to this franchise.
Also, the fact that Chris Pratt is still in the series excites me, as he’s the closest actor that we’ll get that can match Alan Grant, portrayed in the first trilogy by Sam Neil.
Whether or not Bayona follows through with this and actually does something innovative is still up in the air, as only time will tell if he can actually accomplish this. I for one will still see this movie regardless, but I hope that Bayora actually brings the series in his intended direction.
