In 2013, J. J. Abrams said that he and Gabe Newell of Valve were in talks about bringing both Half Life and Portal to life via live action movies. We haven’t heard much else since then, but recently Abrams spoke to IGN and gave us a bit more confidence and put our minds at ease.
Speaking in an interview with IGN about his latest movie, 10 Cloverfield Lane, the Star Wars and Star Trek director said “Not yet, but they’re in development. And we’ve got writers, and we’re working on both those stories. But nothing that would be an exciting update.” You can watch the IGN video interview here.
Dan Trachtenberg, who directed 10 Cloverfield Lane made a name for himself with his Portal short film which you can see below, and you can’t deny that it’s awesome. Whether he will be involved in the feature film of Portal is unknown, but after watching this, you may find yourself on board with the idea.
10 Cloverfield Lane has been receiving some rave reviews, and while not made in the same way as the original movie, it is still winning fans over with its tense narrative. You can read the 4-One review of it here.
