This game looks like something truly special. An amalgamation of so many great elements: gameplay reminiscent of the classic 2D Legend of Zelda games, Sword & Sorcery-esque pixel artwork, and a soundtrack by Disasterpeace.
Alex Preston’s Hyper Light Drifter is a passionate, nostalgic love letter to the benchmark games of the SNES era.
I really can’t wait to play this.
And thankfully, the wait is almost over.
Developer Alex Preston just announced a Steam release date for Hyper Light Drifter – March 31st. Just nine days from now. Awesome!
The game has come a long way since it’s kickstarter campaign that was launched in September of 2013. Preston asked for 27,000 dollars, but wound up getting 645,000 dollars worth of pledges, allowing him to hire more people and significantly expand the game.
Hyper Light Drifter will also be released on consoles later on in the year.
There is no price listed on Steam as of yet.
