If you’re a fan of platform games of the 2D and 3D variety, you may want to double jump your way over to Kickstarter and show some support for Super Axe Boy. The game is being developed by Matthias Falk, and is aiming to be a love letter to platforming games of yesteryear.
The Kickstarter trailer is actually very well done, showing the gameplay in action, while telling the fans what the studio hopes to accomplish. Making use of ladder climbing, coin collecting, beam walking and other established platforming mechanics, Super Axe Boy looks like a treat for fans of platformers.
“SUPER AXE BOY aims to deliver an “axe-citing” platform game experience that switches back and forth between 2D gameplay, as known from the classic games of the 8-bit era, and slick 3D gameplay and graphics from the modern gaming generation. A mix of chiptunes and a garage rock soundtrack will accompany the game’s unique visuals.”
Here are some of the game’s features:
• 2D+3D: The game is switching back and forth between 2D and 3D gameplay to create a unique best-of-both-worlds platform experience
• Cool soundtrack that mixes chiptunes and garage rock
• Unique aestetic that blends a simplistic retro style with state-of-the-art 3D effects
• Paper-thin story with tongue-in-cheek humour and funky characters
Head on over to the Kickstarter page and help Super Axe Boy reach his goal of €25,000.
