343 Industries are taking the top community Breakout maps created with the recently launched Forge mode of Halo 5 Guardians, and throwing them into the Breakout playlist so you can find your favourites. This week, you’ll get to vote on your top choices, and the winning maps will be integrated into the February 2016 Breakout playlist along with the previous on-disc maps.
Since the release of Forge mode in Halo 5 Guardians, fans have been replicating some Halo fan favourites and some other franchise titles that will stand out like a sore thumb. Fans have already created Peach’s Castle from Mario 64, Hoth from Star Wars, and countless other locations.
An unofficial website called ForgeHub features a collection of player made maps for Halo 5 which you can search through and find something that catches your eye. I’d love to sift through the lot one day and create a list of themed, recognisable maps to fight over, but every day, the list keeps on expanding with more and more players diving into the editor.
It’s good to see 343 getting involved with the Forge community from the get go however, and like Rockstar Games with GTA Online, highlighting fun and challenging game modes to download can only add to the experience, and make a game that launched with nearly two dozen base maps seem like an unlimited number number at the start of 2016. If only there was a way to download them externally like with Rockstar’s social website and have them accessible in-game when you next log on.
