“Grip” kickstarter officially axed

Grip For those of you who don’t know what Grip is, or will be… Or would be for that matter. Think of it as a spiritual successor of Rollcage, a frantic all wheel drive racing title from the original PlayStation inspired by remote control cars from the 1990’s. Well unfortunately the game’s kick-starter campaign has officially been canned following news that it had only managed to inspire pledge’s reaching $153,990 (Canadian). Well below the $657,000 target.

Caged Element, the developer behind the project, posted the following in an update on the Grip Kickstarter:

“Yes, we realised a while ago (as did many of you) that things were not looking positive for reaching our funding goal.”

However, the game isn’t doomed just yet, a plan has been put together which will see the game launch of Steam as an early access title no later than the 30th of November 2015. Caged Element: “Early access will allow us to truly focus on the development, while giving the players the power to change the shape of the game as it’s being made.”Grip In the meantime, the developer has launched a PayPal and Stripe campaign that will allow those interested to buy an early access code in advance of the launch date, thus contributing to the development process.

“We don’t need a lot of money to get to that milestone; we jut need to pay some outstanding bills in the meantime, which is why we’re asking for your support in advance of Steam Early Access.”

For those of you wanting to know more, rejoice because there is a trailer, all the elements are there. Speed, Weapons, Crazy looking cars and huge explosions:
