Yesterday, during the San Diego Comic-Con hosted by acclaimed voice actor John DiMaggio, the voice of beloved Delta squad leader Marcus Fenix, Xbox and The Coalition shared insights on the development of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. Not only that, but a special Gears of War Xbox One bundle was also revealed, which will go on sale on August 25th when the game launches.
Included in the bundle is a 500GB Xbox One, the new Xbox One Wireless Controller featuring a 3.5mm stereo headset jack, a digital game download of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, early access to the 2016 Gears of War 4 Multiplayer Beta, the Superstar Cole multiplayer skin, and a 14-day Xbox Live trial.
A behind the scenes spotlight video showing the reworking of the cutscenes for the remaster was also revealed, showing how The Coalition revamped the cutscene where (SPOILERS) Ming got killed by General Ramm early on in the game’s story. The studio wanted to draw out the scene and make it more dramatic, which they certainly have done, and the new platform allows them to focus more on the characters’ faces, to help show more emotion.
Gears of War Ultimate Edition celebrates the nearly 10 year anniversary of the original Gears of War for Xbox 360, featuring an extended campaign introducing missions previously only seen in the pc release of the game. The multiplayer has been boosted with new features such as the targeting function introduced in Gears of War 3.
