On April 18th, the Gears of War 4 closed beta went live for many, although there were furious fans who sat in wait to receive their code to play, but to no avail. Apparently there was a bit of a mishap regarding the code sending, which The Coalition have tried to explain to fans.
“Microsoft Operations had an issue [on April 18] with their code drop and unfortunately the codes will not be distributed in chronological order as originally messaged. We will be doing another code drop [evening of April 18] to help address some of the issues. As noted before, codes will be going out in waves as we ramp up our servers through the beta.”
The Coalition has assured fans that those entitled to join into the Gears of War 4 beta should have their codes before Thursday at the latest, so if you’re still waiting, just give it another day at most.
Having played the beta for a few hours myself, it’s a fantastic addition to the series and while it’s only a technical beta, it looks superb and definitely feels like the classic Gears games the fans love. For those who didn’t play Gears of War Ultimate Edition, the closed beta ends on April 24th and will then open up to all Xbox Live Gold players from April 25th to May 1st.
If you’re still waiting to get stuck into it, why not read Paul’s first impressions here, as he had access during the weekend before the beta went live to the public.
