“It’s no secret, obviously there’s going to be another Borderlands,” Gearbox CEO and president Randy Pitchford said. “We don’t even know if we’re going to call it that. We could call it Borderlands 4 for all we know.”
Gearbox chief creator Mikey Neumann who also voiced Scooter in the previous titles will be penning the game’s story. One hint given away was a pitched idea of including Scooter’s son, called Scooper. “I did this whole Scooter thing, then I pitch-shifted it up like seven semitones so it sounds like a chipmunk and it was the funniest thing I’d ever heard,” Neumann said.
According to Eurogamer, they state that Pitchford discussed Battleborn and its inclusion of a few Borderlands easter eggs.
“There’s already a lot of Borderlands easter eggs in Battleborn. But they’re all from previous Borderlands games. So what if we put easter eggs for future stuff in the DLC?”
“We could do that,” replied Battleborn creative director Randy Varnell.
It’s no surprise to hear that another one is likely, and with three titles already behind them, they certainly have a strong fan base who will be excited to play it in the future. The series did a lot right, combining awesome first person shooting with gorgeous cel-shaded visuals, an RPG leveling system and fantastic humour. The remasted Handsome Jack Collection is currently available on PlayStation 4 and PC, and includes the second game as well as the Pre-Sequel, and allows four players to play together in drop in/out gameplay.
