Following the release of the epic new CG trailer for Gears of War 4 entitled ‘Tomorrow’, Microsoft have teased us with a short gameplay clip of the game’s multiplayer. Don’t expect much, but you can be guaranteed a laugh.
Gears of War is a serious shooter, but it’s not without its sense of humour akin to Mortal Kombat when it comes to its visceral executions. The highlight for me will always be in Gears of War 3, where your character shoves the nozzle of a flamethrower into the chest of your downed opponent, before flames erupt from the mouth of the corpse! Charming, but it looks funnier than it is serious!
Here, we see a quick glimpse of Gears of War 4’s multiplayer, with new character Kait Diaz in control of one of the game’s new weapons, the Drop Shot. The Drop Shot is the equivalent of the Digger from Gears 3, except it doesn’t go underground. Instead, it floats above the battlefield until the player lets go of the fire button, before it drops onto its opponent and pops their head. You can see the headshot effect in the Vine video below this one, posted by Rod Ferguson.
I’m not even going to describe what happens, I just want you to see it. Click the video and watch, with a smile of course. Next week, you will be able to take part in the closed Gears of War 4 beta if you already own a copy of Gears of War Ultimate Edition, with the beta kicking off on April 18th.
Rod Ferguson of The Coalition did indeed upload a Vine of the Drop Shot in action when a direct headshot has landed, which you can see below. I like where Gears 4 is going, and I can’t wait to play it!
