Elite Dangerous for Xbox One will finally be receiving the Horizons expansion this summer, according to developer Frontier. Horizons lets you explore the planets in more detail using an SRV Surface Recon Vehicle. Future updates will arrive alongside PC updates.
Elite Dangerous Horizons is the first big update that Elite has received, 2.0: Planetary Landings, and the next update on the list is the upcoming 2.1: The Engineers expansion. which revamps the missions and beefs up the customisation and crafting options for your ship according to Eurogamer.
Frontier said future gameplay updates will debut for PC and Xbox One simultaneously. These include:
- Multicrew, allowing teams of players to assume roles aboard the same ship.
- Commander Creation, giving a unique appearance to players’ in-game avatars.
- Ship-Launched Fighters, allowing larger spacecraft to carry their own short-range fighter craft for attack and defense.
These all sound like awesome updates, and I too wondered about the possibilities of sharing a ship with crewmates and a carrier for smaller ships.
All Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous: Horizons players on Xbox One will continue to receive free minor updates, fixes and optimisations, Frontier also said. Talk of a PlayStation 4 release is still up in the air, with the last mention of “soon” being mentioned.
