EA announce new, third person Star Wars game development project

Star WarsMay the 4th has come and gone and between the usual flurry of Star Wars related memes circulating the Internet, EA took the opportunity to make a rather exciting announcement. Respawn Entertainment, famous for Xbox One exclusive Titanfall, having begun work on an all new, third person, Star Wars Action/Adventure game.

Star WarsThe development of the game is being led by God of War 3 director Stig Asmussen and while no official details have been released in relation to the game it’s easy to see how Asmmussen’s expertise in the third-person field, teamed with the talent behind Titanfall has the potential to create a truly epic game to the growing list of games in the Star Wars universe.

And it seems we’re not the only people who think so, Soderlund of Respawn Entertainment had the following to say in relation to the project:

“I’ve had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Vince Zampella and his group. Their obsession with making games that feel amazing has helped make Titanfall one of the most successful new game launches of this generation. And now, with a new team led by Stig Asmussen, we get to see what they can do when you combine that great attention to gameplay with the power of Star Wars.”

It’s easy to get lost in speculation and if I had to take a random guess about what they were working on, I’d say Star Warswe could be in for a new IP which vaguely represents the Star Wars: Force Unleashed games. But then I’m probably not the best person to ask. Needless to say, with little over a month until E3 2016 it’s a very exciting time to be a Star Wars fan. Until then we’ll just have to wait and see if anything gets leaked.
