Techland have said due to the sudden change that anyone who have already bought either the expansion or Season Pass won’t have to worry as they won’t be affected, and the price change won’t come into affect until December 8th.
The Following was announced in August for $14.99, but come December 8th that will be raising by a fiver to $19.99. The Season Pass, which is currently $19.99, will be raising by a tenner to $29.99. Why the Season Pass is increasing by an additional fiver is unknown, but it may be due to other planned content.
Techland say their reason for the increased price is due to the sheer size of the expansion, and that they didn’t want to surprise people with the increased cost so announced it ahead of time.
“Over the past weeks Dying Light: The Following has almost reached its final stage: main quests, side quests, new skills, and driving challenges are ready. We now are moving into the polishing period. Looking at it, it’s clear how big the expansion pack has grown – it could be a stand-alone title, but since it would mean a launch delay, we decided against it.”
Whether or not it’s indeed worth the price increase won’t be known until release, so for now all we can do is take Techlands word on it.
