This may make you feel old but this year marks the 15th anniversary of the Deus Ex franchise and Square Enix and Eidos Montreal are celebrating with a four episode online documentary. The series will highlight the progression of Deus Ex from the original game’s launch on June 26th 2000 all the way through to the upcoming release of Mankind Divided. That’s not all though. Until the 3rd of July you can also vote for what you want to see in the collector’s edition of Mankind Divided
The first episode is already available to view over on IGN.com with some of the creators from the original Deus Ex discussing the development and impact of the game that would launch a legacy. With commentary from Warren Spector, Chris Nordon and Sheldon Pacotti it’s a much watch for any Deus Ex fan, and don’t worry it’s only short. They discuss just how the game came to be, why they wanted to make it and what inspired one of the best loved games of all time.
Meanwhile Square Enix have also announced that they are letting fans decide what goes into the Collector’s Edition for Mankind Divided. Deus Ex is a game all about player choice, something discussed by Spector, Nordon and Pacotti, so it seems only fitting that player choice will shape the final contents of this edition. Over on the Deus Ex website you can vote for 3 options out of 10. The choices are;
- Adam Jensen Replica Statue
- Replica Weapon
- Mini Art Book
- A Metal Sign reading “Welcome to Golem City”
- Lunch Box
- Tattoo Sleeve
- Mini Bust of Adam Jensen
- Pin Set
- Mini Replica Weapon Set
Voting continues here until July 3rd.
The game itself will launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2016 assuming their are no delays.
