Yesterday, a rumour began circling the internet, hinting that a remastered release of the original Dead Rising would be coming to PlayStation 4. Capcom have since confirmed this rumour, and have expanded on it.
Responding to Eurogamer’s inquiry, a Capcom spokesperson said “Capcom will be bringing Dead Rising to Xbox One, PS4 and PC. In addition, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will make their way onto Xbox One and PS4. We will have more news to share soon.”
That’s a whole lot of zombie slaying right there. The decider will certainly be the price tag being attached to these aged titles, despite the remaster. Don’t mess it up, Capcom!
It’s an exciting prospect, and at this point in the current console generation, the news of yet another remastered release has lost its shock value. However, The original title was only available on the Xbox 360, while a Wii release also made it onto the market which was just diabolical.
Dead Rising 2 features another character in another setting, while the ‘Off the Record’ release brought the first game’s protagonist Frank West into the new game.
Dead Rising 4 is releasing on Xbox One this holiday as a timed-exclusive, but it may be a year before it reaches the PlayStation platform. This remastered collection may just tie over fans in the meantime, and at least it’s a game they may not have played yet, so it could be a desirable purchase.
