Last week, Deep Silver announced that Dead Island would be making its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as a collection. The Dead Island Definitive Collection will include the original Dead Island, along with its spin-off title Dead Island: Riptide.
Featuring fully remastered and greatly improved versions of both games, relive (or unlive?) the bone crunching, skull smashing, limb breaking, blood drenching action RPG that helped inspire Dying Light. The collection will feature new textures, models, and lighting effects as well as a smoother playing experience. All previously released DLC will also be included in the package.
Dead Island is also playable with 4 friends online, and is actually pretty good fun, despite its mediocre reviews when its launch was a bit messy. Interestingly enough, the collection also includes a game called Dead Island Retro Revenge, although details on that are rather scarce. Could it be a remastered version of Escape Dead Island?
Who can also forget the amazing teaser trailer for the game in its CG glory, which kind of confused fans as to what the game would play out like. The music is oh so memorable though, and it’s still an amazing trailer that was even parodied by Goat Simulator at the time of its release too.
The Dead Island Definitive Collection has a release date of May 31st, with a price of $40/€40/£30 expected.
