Most people haven’t even finished the main story of The Witcher 3 yet, because it is just so bloody huge, so to say that Cyberpunk 2077 will be even bigger says a lot, whether that is a good or bad thing.
In an interview with MCV, visual effects artist Jose Teixeira said: “Cyberpunk is far bigger than anything else that CD Projekt Red has done before. Far, far bigger.”
“We’re really stepping into the unknown in terms of complexity and size and problems we encounter.”
Teixeira said that the work on The Witcher 3 has helped them hugely when working on a game the scale of Cyberpunk 2077 and they know where they are going in refining their open-world.
“The Witcher helped Cyberpunk quite a bit, because the game got so big and so complex that it really taught us,” he explained. “We really didn’t know what was going to happen.
“If anything, working on The Witcher 3 was a really good and often brutal learning experience. Cyberpunk is going to benefit greatly from it. I can almost guarantee it.
“I have a lot of things that I want to change and do better the next time around, and I can guarantee that almost everyone in that studio has something that they go ‘I did this this time, next time I can do it differently, I can do it better’.”
No ideas on a release date yet, but don’t expect that for a long time, as the company has already said that they are unlikely to show anything until 2017.
I personally am hugely excited for Cyberpunk 2077, as I was for The Witcher 3 and can’t wait to hear more on the game. What about you though? Let us know in the comments!
