You know it’s Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon when you’re at home with the feet up, and you hear your favourite weekend show start. Pure bliss. On the Dreamcast, Bizarre Creations released one of the greatest driving games to grace gaming- Metropolis Street Racer- in that it was the beginning of Project Gotham Racing, and an inspiration with its use of the ‘Kudos’ system, which gave you bonus points based on stylish driving. Irish musician and producer miracleofsound has released his first project of 2016, and it’s an awesome tribute to Bethesda’s Fallout 4. Taking inspiration from the game, and some samples from Fallout 4’s opening theme, Miracle of Sound’s Gavin Dunne penned his own lyrics and does a wondrous job. One of the greatest games to grace the Sega Saturn in 1996, and then the Xbox 360 in 2011 is Guardian Heroes by Treasure. As well as its amazing gameplay and art style, Guardian Heroes also featured a beautiful, energetic and diverse soundtracks.
Designer Tommy Refenes said in a Team Meat Blog that the studio had to create a new soundtrack for the game as they were unable to get the rights to the original score held by Danny Baranowsky, who claims to no longer have a “working relationship with Team Meat.”
This week’s song choice is something we have wanted to share for a long time, and what makes it unique is that it was a song recorded specifically for the game, sung in Irish. For a Japanese game like Metal Gear Solid, which found massive success back in 1998, and being Irish, I love this. Maybe I’m biased!
Some of us have been thinking about this for a few days, or were like Fiona and just couldn’t choose a single theme song from an entire series, but we have come up with a fantastic and varied list which should please your ear holes nicely.
With our imminent advancement to our website we decided to test the waters with some music recommendations. We usually do our Sunday soundtrack but today we are giving it a spice up by suggestion a band in particular. Although the band in question has started in many games already in the last year and potentially more games will invest in their songs in the months that follow.
