Becoming available this week for PlayStation 4, iOS and Steam, developer Calvino Noir have released their mysterious stealth game inspired by the classics of film noir, also called Calvino Noire. Calvino Noir takes players on an unforgettable journey through the underworld of 1930s Europe with stylistic side-scrolling gameplay, a dark and foreboding visual style presented in shades of grey, and multiple paths and characters to explore.
Calvino Noire includes a fully voiced narrative story, over seven levels, spread across three distinct acts. The PlayStation and Steam versions are available as one complete purchase, but the iOS version is sold in three parts, so you can try one part before investing in the rest.
The game makes strong use of a stealth mechanic that allows for multiple playable characters, each delivering a unique twist on how problems can be solved. The game’s three protagonists vary in their mindsets and how they approach situations, offering players new ways to tackle problems; everything from brute force to shadowy deception is in play. Puzzles often have multiple solutions, so exploration is imperative to outsmarting the enemy. The game’s visuals are something worth talking about as well, with very detailed worlds and moody noir-lighting.
You can find the game in your respective storefront, or grab it from the developer’s website here.
