DICE LA are proving to be every Battlefield fan’s heroes, updating Battlefield 4 and adding new content to the 2 year old title. The latest announcement, is that they are bringing one of Battlefield 2’s most beloved maps, Dragon Valley to Battlefield 4, which should be released before the year is out. It’s worth noting, that this will also be FREE.
The map caters for large vehicle battles, and to mimic the less than great draw distance of Battlefield 2, DICE are adding in low cloud coverage to deliberately obstruct visual range for land based vehicles and infantry. “The destructible, repairable bridges are back, and the Conquest layout has more flags than any other map, in order to recapture some of the feeling of the original. A new Rush layout debuts, too,” wrote VG247.
Unfortunately for those still playing on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, this map won’t be made available for technical reasons. The map is simply too big for last generation consoles in its updated form.
“This doesn’t mean we’re no longer supporting players on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with critical updates when needed, but we really wanted to try something big for Dragon Valley, and we think that when you play it, you’ll see the difference,” DICE wrote in a Battlelog update.
