Studio Wildcard updated eager PlayStation fans this week on their forum, informing them that they’re unable to bring a still in-development version of the game to the platform. Ark: Survival Evolved released in beta on Xbox One during the holidays last year and has been downloaded millions of times, while it still forms itself into a stellar crafting/building title.
On the forum post dating back to August 8th, last Monday, Studio Wildcard said “As for the PS4 Release of ARK: Survival Evolved, it is currently up to Sony. We’ve been informed that we can’t release the game on this platform until it has been finished. We would like nothing more than to make ARK available on PS4 as soon as possible, as we already have an awesome PS4 version of the game running internally. If you would like to see it sooner, please let Sony know, as it’s unfortunately not our decision.”
Studio Wildcard intended to release their spin-off title Ark: Survival of the Fittest, a competitive version of the game spurred on by a community created mod which looks hilarious and fun, but the studio decided to consolidate it into the full game as a separate aspect, instead of trying to balance both titles separately with such a small team.
Ark: Survival Evolved has a release window of late 2016, although nothing is set in stone, wood or other crafting materials.
