Announced three years ago, the Angry Birds movie is now becoming a reality, with Rovio releasing the first trailer for the animated movie. The Angry Birds Movie will be flapping its way into theaters in May 2016.
“In this hilarious 3D adventure, we’ll finally find out why the birds are so angry,” reads the blurb, and we can imagine already that it’s related to pigs. For a man in his thirties, I’m pleased to admit that I have never once played an Angry Birds game, and have no desire to start any time soon. Speaking of which, despite the popularity of the series, is this movie coming at the right time, or is it a bit late?
“The movie takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds – or almost entirely. In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis – We’re the Millers, Horrible Bosses), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad in his first animated role since Frozen), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride – This is the End, Eastbound and Down) have always been outsiders. But when the island is visited by mysterious green piggies, it’s up to these unlikely outcasts to figure out what the pigs are up to.”
Anything worth tweeting about? Something to bring the kids to? Would we be wrong to suspect a cash-in game release to coincide with the movie? Time will tell!
