Amazon have a nasty habit of leaking release dates for games, and they have proven true for Forza Motorsport 6 and Rise of the Tomb Raider in the past. Are they on the mark again with Bethesda’s reboot of Doom?
According to Amazon France yesterday, Doom was listed across all platforms (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC) as having a June 30th release date. This could easily be a place marker and it could be sooner than June 30th or later.
What it does give us is a good idea of what Bethesda may be trying to do. With Doom being such an influential game in the 90s, it has since been surpassed in popularity by the likes of Call of Duty and Counter Strike for its arena combat. Bringing it back in a more dormant release period would give it a fighting chance amongst the modern franchises. I mean no disrespect to Doom either.
The game had a one week alpha test on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in October, with a beta to take place some time this year as well before the game’s release. After the Bethesda E3 show in June, anticipation for Doom is high, and another gameplay trailer to blow fans away will have this game on people’s pre-order list surely.
