According to Variety, The Fox Innovation Lab and filmmaker Ridley Scott have teamed up to make an “Alien Covenant” virtual reality experience. Set trousers to soiled, if Alien Isolation is anything to use as a benchmark. With the arrival of a new Alien movie, a VR experience is a great idea, but could leave a lot of fans missing out.
It’s unknown exactly what the VR experience will entail, but it is said that the title will be a paid experience, as opposed to a free downloadable app that one might expect. It isn’t said what platform it would be ported to, other than being “on major VR platforms.” Fox states that it will be “a dread-inducing journey into the depths of the Alien universe.”I wouldn’t expect it on anything less than Vive, Oculus Rift and even PlayStation VR. The latter of which may be its best bet.
“Viewers will discover the true meaning of terror as they navigate through horrifying alien environments and a story where every decision could mean the difference between life and death.”
May 19th sees the release of Alien Covenant in theatres. You can check out the Christmas Eve trailer below, if you want…
