1TB PlayStation 4 Release Date Announced

Project MorpheusSony have announced that on July 15th in “select Europe and PAL territories” they will be launching the 1TB PS4 ‘Ultimate Player Edition’.

No doubt this delights many who were considering picking up a PS4, as the current model only has a 500GB, which is very little considering the huge sizes of games today. Having twice that storage capacity should definitely help if you worry about having to uninstall and re-install games regularly.

According to the  FCC filings a few weeks ago, this model is apparently more energy efficient also. How so, we are unsure, but it will likley be something to do with the standby mode.

The release date has yet to be announced for other countries, but since the documents were submitted to the US FCC then chances are it will also be coming to NA shortly.

No prices have been stated yet, though I would assume that it will cost the same as the current model. HDD’s are not that expensive anymore (there was a price hike a few years ago when a WD factory got flooded), so it could be that after a little bit of time the 1TB version will take over for the current model.

What are your thoughts though? Would you be more interested in getting the 1TB model, or have you swapped out the HDD’s already? Let us know in the comments!

cant help but feel that these should’ve been the norm. I wonder if the efficiency will help with the noise. if I was in the market id definitely get one with the bigger HD
